Catalog Description
Excellent choice for the shrub border or as a garden accent. Spectacular gentian-blue lacecap flower heads when grown in acidic soil. Large green leaves with creamy-white edges. Deciduous. Partial sun. Fast, rounded grower to 4 to 6 feet tall and wide. Cutting grown.
Design Ideas

A romantic lacecap Hydrangea that makes excellent border background with the added bonus of gentian-blue flowers when planted in acidic soils. Plant as a single specimen with other shrubs or group for a more broad flowering display. Makes a good complement for Fern dells and a great solution for the shade under trees.
Companion Plants

To ensure deep blue flowers, plant beneath acidic conifers such as Golden Deodar Cedar (Cedrus deodara `Aurea`) or the dramatic Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar (Cedrus atlantica `Glauca Pendula`) in cooler climates.
Combine with understory plants with similar needs such as Ever Red Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum `Ever Red`) and among the larger variegated Hostas with corrugated texture such as Frances Williams Plantain Lily (Hosta sieboldiana `Frances Williams`).
