This pyramidal-shaped evergreen is a slow growing, drought tolerant tree that is often used for windbreaks, wildlife plantings or as a specimen in the landscape. It features bright green needles that mature to a blue-green color. It tends to have an extremely dense branching habit. It is the state tree of South Dakota. This is a good tree for attracting birds to your landscape.
Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep root system. Apply fertilizer in early spring before new growth begins.
