Festuca glauca 'Boulder Blue' is not a new introduction but rather a successful plant that has been used only in a small geographical area. Plantsman Ted Keuttel of Golden, Colorado selected this form of blue fescue over 30 years ago. He has found many plants for their ability to survive Colorado's unique changeable weather. 'Boulder Blue' is a diminutive plant 8"-10" high with a deep blue color as opposed to 'Elijah Blue' powder blue color. It flowers in late spring with golden inflorescence.
