A dwarf species of penstemon with lavender-blue flowers enclosing gold-bearded staminodes on 6-inch, narrow-leaved stems. The leaves are dusty-gray green on this clump-forming perennial. This species is endemic to the Arkansas River Valley in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico.
