This grass has graceful, arching leaves, and erect or nodding rose-colored flower spikes up to 12 inches long. Fountain grass grows in dense, symmetrical clumps that can get 3-4 feet tall and 2-3 feet across with a fountain of feathery plumes flowing out of the foliage. This grass is grown as an annual in the Rocky Mountain region and can be used in containers and garden borders. This native grass of northern Africa can become weedy in areas where it can overwinter (zone 8 and warmer) and it is recommended to remove old flower plumes to prevent self-seeding.
