This plant features tall flower spikes in June with many star-shaped, chrome-yellow flowers with orange anthers. The flower buds begin opening at the bottom of the spike first and slowly bloom to the top. This stately plant is a bright addition in a sunny perennial garden. Plant in late autumn in a wind-protected area. Apply some mulch or leaves as winter protection for this early summer bloomer. Makes a good cut flower for floral arrangements.
