This species of Clematis is a non-vining plant that features bell-shaped purple to white flowers in May - June. The flowers give way to attractive powderpuff-like seedheads. It has leathery, green leaves.
This plant makes a nice addition to a rock garden, native garden or border, especially when planted in masses or large groups.
