These English-grown hybrids appear to be somewhat hardier than other varieties; variable in color, but mostly dark violet blue and very vigorous. A rosette of strap-like leaves surround the 1"-2" long, trumpet-shaped blooms that are clustered on top of 18"-48" stems. The bloom resembles that of an onion, being in a globular shape. It makes a nice cut flower.

This is a perfect plant for a full sun, well-drained site. It blooms July to early fall.
