The foliage on this clump-forming ornamental grass is extremely narrow with vertical bands of white and green that give a silvery appearance. Flower plumes grow up to six feet in height and are crimson red before changing to soft tan. Cut back this grass in the late winter or early spring to enjoy the winter interest from the cream-colored seed heads. The foliage on this variety tends to keep its upright shape well, without flopping. Morning Light is a similar but smaller version of Gracillimus.
