This is a slow-growing, evergreen tree that may reach 50 feet. It is a very tough cypress that belongs in tough situations. This tree grows best with good drainage and some supplemental water until established. It is cold tolerant. It has gray-green foliage and cherry red bark. This tree's form tends to not be symmetrical. It will sometimes sprawl sideways as it grows taller. It is one of the grayest cypresses. It can tolerate difficult locations.
