This is a small to medium sized tree with three lobed leaves. It has a brilliant orange fall color. The flowers are insignificant, but it produces large quantities of winged samaras as fruit.

It can tolerate many soils and is a good choice for a street tree or specimen tree for a residential lot. It can also be hedged when planted in a formal landscape. It is more drought tolerant than some other maples.
