Broadleaf evergreen shrub, generally 3-6' tall with similar spread. Leaves are glossy green in summer with new growth emerging red or bronze. In autumn, foliage turns purple-bronze. Yellow flowers in April and May can be quite showy. Fruit turn from green to blue-black in late summer and resemble grape clusters, which is referenced in one of its common names.
Grow in partial shade as M. aquifolium does not tolerate hot, dry sites or windswept areas.
